Michelle and I took a day trip up the Costa Brava. We saw this
fortress and explored it thoroughly. Here Michelle enjoys the bluest
sea while well-armed. |
 |
Another view of the fortress. You can see the beach-town in the
background. The fortress dates back to the 16th century when it was
used to protect ships against pirates |
 |
There is an interesting ruin of a church in the fortress. It
gave some great views and Michelle took many artistic photos. I got
this photo of her in the meantime. |
 |
There is a nice cove in this town used mostly for the beach now, but
also for snorkeling and boating. Notice the blue of the water. In
reality, it's brighter. |
 |
Here is the church from a distance. Notice that it's crawling
with tourists (like us). You can also see the sea and the town from
up here. Very lovely. |
 |
On the way down, we wandered through the old, wandering, maze-like
streets. I took the opportunity to pose in front of a picturesque
house and garden. |
 |
Our first stop on our tour of Barcelona was the Soccer stadium.
Not too exciting for Americans. Here you can see the exciting action
of grass being cut. |
 |
We did see the Sagrada Family Church, breifly. I wish we could
have spent more time here instead of the soccer field. As you can
see, it is still being built. Beautiful. |
 |
Michelle and I ran to see the Columbus monument instead of shopping.
Here he is pointing to America. Michelle is in front in white. |
 |
One interesting statue is an indian kissing the hand of a friar.
Not very politically correct, is it? This is on the base of the Columbus
column. |
 |
Here is the amazing Magic fountain. It's a hundred
years old and still a wonder. The lights, spray and size changes
with music. It's very captivating and big (60 yards wide) |
 |
Michelle and I pose in front of the fountain. It was a
good ending to the day trip. The fountain in perhaps the most memorable
and interesting site on the trip. |
