Prague in Summer
One weekend in the summer of 2000, we decidede to take a trip to Prague, see the parks and generally have a good time. It was a great day trip.
We walked to Petrin hill, which features a beautiful fragrant rose garden. Here, Michelle takes a good whiff of the beautiful flowers. |
Petrin hill has a small Eiffel tower on it. We took the stairs up and got a wonderful view of the city. This picture looks down on the park near the hill. |
This is the view of the man city from the tower. You can see the bend in the river Vltava which winds through the city and most of the Czech Republic. |
There is a mirror fun house on Petrin Hill. The maze is disorienting and the warping mirrors were fun too. Also, there is a painted depiction of the Swedes attacking Prague. One of these things is not like the other. |
This is the picture of Prague's Loretto. Michelle is sitting on the steps. The Loretto features a copy of the Virgin Mary's house. There are a series of these Loretto around Europe, though the main one is in Italy. |
Here Chris sits on he wall in front of the Loretto. It was a very comfortable day. |
After the Park, Loretto and a walk by the castle we waited for a tram into town. While we waited a couple of horse drawn carraiges came and stopped at the lights. Timing and luck is everything. |
We went to eat at a riverboat restaurant. It had a wonderful location and came recommended. The food was mediocre (sweet ketchup is NOT a sauce!), but the view and river were wonderful. |
Here is the restaurant view (behind Chris) The castle and river make a great backdrop. We were also treated to Czech radio (Deep Purple and Queen rule here) |
After dinner we hired a paddleboat on the river. Behind Michelle is the riverboat restaurant. |
Again, on the paddleboat, you can see Prague castle outlined against the sky behing Michelle. |
We decided to use the timer and get a picture of both of us together. Luckily, the camera did not slip or fall or get damaged in any way, as I had deeply feared. |
It was a nice busy, sight filled day. Still, somehow, it was relaxed and stress free despite all this. We ate a lot and spent money and saw good stuff. It's sometimes nice to take a vacation close to home. Return to Homepage
